Say hello to 2026 with the first hike of the year

Last year I had to cancel the New Year hike due to the devastanding fires, but this time we should be good to go.

Get a great healthy start to 2026 and come out for a hike with the Danes. We will visit the historic landmark; Nike Missile Control Site LA-96.

The Nike Missile Control Site LA-96C was a U.S. Army-operated LA-96 from 1956 to 1968 with one purpose in mind – to be a last line of defense from Soviet planes that were coming to drop an atomic bomb over Los Angeles.

• Trip is about 7 miles in total and elevation gain is 1,099 ft.
• Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash
• Remember sunscreen, hat, and water.
• We meet at 9am and will start hiking at 9:15am.
• Street parking at the parking lot at 2698 Westridge Rd
• Hike will be postponed if it rains.
